Successfully adjusting to college can set young people on the road to achieving many of their life goals. College is a time of change, challenges, explorations and discoveries. Students are faced with complex adjustment issues and they must search for ways to effectively adapt and prosper in this new environment. Start Right is a package (6 videos, and educational resource materials) that is designed to assist in the adjustment, growth and development of students as they establish themselves in the college setting. Each video presents a series of fast-paced, stylish clips of real students talking about their real experiences. They present their initial challenges, struggles, adjustment issues and mistakes. They talk openly about what they did “wrong,” what they wish they had done. Viewers get “tips for success,” the most significant of which are highlighted by text between video clips. Reinforcing student comments, professional opinions are added. Educational handouts, worksheets and self-exploration exercises provide reinforcement for each video. |
