Eric Blackburn is well known in British Columbia as an adventurer who is sailing his 30’ home built sloop, “The Chickadee”, around the world. What is less known about Eric, however, is his passionate commitment to humanitarian outreach along the way.

After a dramatic trip down the west coast of Canada, the United States, and parts of Central America, Eric landed in Nicaragua where a series of events would change his life forever.

Using stunning footage of the voyage at sea and live action sequences of Eric in Nicaragua, Chickadee: Spirit of the Kootenays tells the story of a remarkable Canadian whose passion for the basic human rights of all children has led him far from his home in the interior of British Columbia.
