Laughing Through the Pain

Go back...

Comedian and psychotherapist David Granirer teaches recovering drug addicts to become stand-up comics and helps them regain their self-esteem. Doc Willikers works with severely ill children and their families at the BC children's hospital, helping them cope with everything from the pain of treatment to the fear of dying. In 1996, after Mavis Pickett lost her daughter in a tragic skiing accident, she realized she would need help to deal with her grief.  She found that classes in making others laugh gave her a way to cope.

Laughing Through the Pain explores the impact of laughter on our health. David Granirer, Doc Willikers and  Mavis Pickett have felt the power of laughter. For them, laughter is not only the best medicine, but also a coping strategy to get through the day.
