Mission schools had a profound impact on generations of First Nation People. Their ripple effects continue today. This program documents and celebrates the healing journeys of three women who are working in their communities to promote wellness. While the experience of trauma began their lifelong healing journeys, they not only survived, they became stronger. Their contributions today flow from the heart of their healing. Frances Carlick: I have a vision, even a dream, that one day we could have world leaders from our aboriginal children today… Clara Van Bibber: Our people have gone through an awful lot in the past hundred years or so, but we're still here, we're very, very strong survivors. Our Spirits are very strong. Geraldine James: If we want to make change, then we have to start getting vocal, we have to start getting tough, and we have to start speaking out. Frances, Clara and Geraldine have traveled through pain to healing. From confusion to awareness, they faced challenges, they grew strong. They shared this strength and skill with their communities. Now they are taking brave new steps that mark the path for others. Their journeys are filled with hope and healing, for them and for you. |
