1. Costume, Camera and Grip Departments

Costume Department

Costume Designer: Designs, creates, acquires and supervises the construction and fitting of all costumes and wardrobe. Works in consultation with the production designer and the director.

Assistant Costume Designer: Assists the costume designer as required. Is often responsible for the sourcing, purchasing and renting of wardrobe elements.

Set (or Truck) Costumer: On-set person responsible for all wardrobe requirements on set. Ensures continuity for matching action and does wardrobe repairs as needed.

Camera Department

Director of Photography: Also known as the cinematographer. The camera and lighting supervisor on a production, overseeing the work of the camera crew.

Camera Operator: Responsible for the actual operation of the camera.

1st Assistant Camera: Responsible for adjusting the focus of the lens while filming. Also known as the focus puller.

2nd Assistant Camera: Responsble for marking the actor's places, slating, paperwork, dealing with film stock, camera equipment and the lab.

Grip Department

Director of Photography: The camera and lighting supervisor on a production, overseeing the work of the camera crew. Also known as the cinematographer.
Key Grip: The head of the grip department. Responsible for overseeing the moving and set-up of cameras, lights, dolly track and other equipment as needed.

Best Boy Grip: Next in command to the key grip. Responsible for maintenance servicing and inventory of all grip equipment and for having on-set all equipment and personnel required by the grip department.

Grips: The crew members responsible for the actual loading and moving of the equipment, setting up the stands to support lights or any other hanging elements, setting up dollies and tracks, cranes, sets, etc.
