Special Effects Department

Special Effects Supervisor: Also known as the Special Effects Coordinator, the sfx Supervisor is the head of the department and designs and directs all the special effects needed on the job. This position requires special skills in pyrotechnics, rigging, engineering and safety.

Special Effects Assistant: Assists the special effects supervisor as required.

Stunt Coordinator: The person responsible for preparing and organizing all stunts on a production - everything from car chases to fights and building falls.

Construction Department

Production Designer: The person responsible for the entire visual look of a film. Oversees the art, construction, set dec, wardrobe, props, hair and make-up departments.

Construction Coordinator: The head of the crew responsible for constructing all the sets in a production.

Scenic Carpenter: A craftsperson with at least six years experience in construction who is responsible for the framing and finishing carpentry on a set.

Locations Department

Locations Manager (LM): The head of the department responsible for scouting locations, for securing permits and for making sure that each location is ready for the film crew before filming and is left in a decent state after filming.

Assistant Location Manager (ALM): The assistant to the LM who functions primarily on-set as the liaison between the production company and the community, neighbourhood or location owner. ALMs delegate duties to police officers and PA's.

Locations Production Assistant: The entry-level position in the locations department, providing general assistance on-set, including crowd control, security, clean up and public relations.

Transportation Coordinator: The head of the crew responsible for driving the production vehicles on a film.
