The Ahousaht story clearly illustrates the relationship between failing economies and social problems in Aboriginal communities. In a matter of months, this small coastal village experienced ninety-six suicide attempts. With the loss of their commercial fishery, the Ahousaht's primary commerce and traditional way of life collapsed into chaos and hopelessness. The community is now battling such negative impacts and creating a plan to build a viable future. View a clip |
