Shockwave: Surviving North America's Biggest Disaster
Shockwave is about the impending earthquake / tsunami that will devastate the Pacific Northwest. The Cascadia Subduction Zone is a crack in the ocean floor from California to British Columbia. It is nearly identical to the fault that ruptured off Sumatra and caused the tsunami on December 26, 2004, killing hundreds of thousands of people. Five major cities (Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle, Portland and Sacremento) plus hundreds of small towns along a thousand kilometers of coastline will be heavily damaged.
What happened to Sumatra will happen here beyond any reasonable scientific doubt - the same megathrust earthquake and the same train of killer waves. This documentary (photographed in high-definition and with state of the art computer animation) goes behind the scenes as scientists apply what they've learned from Sumatra to create new disaster survival plans for western North America.
