Program 1 – Alcohol Addiction – Monica and Carrie address the effects that alcohol addiction has on individuals and their communities.  First, Carrie travels to the Cote First Nation where she meets Zelda Quewesance who explains their future plans for a family healing centre.  Then, she visits the Ahtahkakoop First Nation where the Cree Nation Treatment Haven has been operating for 20 years.

Program 2 – Gambling – Many people are addicted to gambling.  The actions of an addict can have severe and far-reaching effects in families and communities.  Carrie meets with Dr. Peter Butt, an addictions treatment specialist and William Crow-Buffalo, an addictions counselor, who discuss the realities of this disease and its implications.  Next Carrie meets with Norm Durocher and Lindsay Burns.  Both are gambling addicts and together speak openly about their addicition and the path to recovery.

Program 3 – Youth and Addiciton – In today’s world, many young people are finding peer pressure, dysfunctional families and easy access to drugs often combine to lead to an addicted existence.  Carrie visits Bosco Homes in Edmonton where she meets with staff and elders who discus the root causes of addiction and the various treatment options available to support positive recoveries.  Next, she meets with “Dianna”, a young women who share her battle with homelessness, drug addiction and prostitution.  “Dianna” recognizes that education, both scholaticly and traditionally, is the key to her recovery and with the help of Bosco Homes she hopes to succeed on her journey.
