Kluane National Park, in the southwest corner of the Yukon is home to an abundant wildlife population of Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep and Grizzly Bears. There is no road access or development designed for public use, yet there is a growing demand from the public to experience this environment. Park officials are weighing this demand with the needs of Kluane's wildlife and unique environment. The Grizzly bear population is regarded as the indicator species for wildlife in Kluane. This documentary shows the efforts by parks officials to gather as much information as possible about the life cycle of the big bears in particular, their travel routes and preferred habitats. With this information, planners will be able to establish which areas are least likely to see Grizzly use, therefore, the areas which possibly could be opened up for public use. |
