Featuring an insightful recreation of the 15th century heresy trial of an Italian astronomer, Giovanni Foscarini and a beautiful soundtrack by Steve Hegyi, “The Celestial Matter” is a drama about prejudice and the shortfalls of conventional knowledge. As the trial progresses, we despair of the narrow parameters allowed for free thought. The heresies Foscarini was accused of are now accepted as truths. The question posed by filmmaker John Kozak is, “How can we be sure that today’s concept of truth is better than that of our forefathers?” |
