While hunting one day, young King Eadric loses his temper with his fellow noblemen and storms away with his favorite lanner falcon, Jessie. Impatient to find game, he wanders heedlessly through an area of countryside which is unfamiliar to him and becomes lost. The young ruler soon finds himself powerless against the forces of nature. Though she can fly away, Jessie faithfully returns to her master after every flight and watches over him. But the king’s hot temper and pride prevent him from trusting his keen-eyed and loyal companion, with perilous consequences.
